Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
2. To Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) deployment and execution CI tools- Value stream mapping, Visual control management, Leader standard work, 5S, Kaizen events & RIEs etc.
3. To ensure correct allocation of Capex to Eaton health and safety, Productivity, Growth or Infrastructure projects. Timely execution of the projects on quarterly basis.
4. To raise CARs( Capital Appropriation Requests) for all Capex projects in the plant.
5. Drive CI Events, trainings, Gemba walk and SIO walk around the whole plant (both office area and shop floor)
6. To reach Demonstrating and facilitating 5S across site to support Safety.
7. Working on several cost-out projects like Scrap reductions, set up time reduction, standardization of site communication.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I have started from zero knowledge on Operations Excellence and Continuous Improvement. I have started with getting trained on CI tools, assisting or shadowing my manager in different projects, getting used to the company culture etc. Later on as I could understand the business and the signification of operations excellence in a business , I took on few cost-out projects. Through trials and errors, I have successfully finished my internship. The growth within the role was slow but steady.
