Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I look after Learning and Development, designing courses, managing suppliers, liaising with stakeholders and delivering learning solutions. Every day is different, and I meet new people in EMR every week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It was great fun as well as hard work! However, I was able to collaborate with people from other businesses and industries and bring that learning back to EMR.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Lots. My apprenticeship helped me to see the bigger picture and make decisions based on broader thinking outside of just my job role. It helped me progress in the business.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As a more mature apprentice I was responsible for managing my own time to get the learning done. When at Uni at MMU the days were very weel structured and run. I was also given time during the week by the company to complete portfolio work and assignments.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot - from tailoring projects to support my assignments to time during the working week (especially in the run up to deadlines). I was also able to speak with many internal specialists to develop my knowledge around the apprenticeship subject.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
MMU were really good - although I did not use my skills coach too much she was always on hand when I had an issue. They were also flexible around a change of role and supportive when times got tricky with a balance of work and study!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has given me a much more strategic view and perspective when making operational decisions - and I believe gives me and extra 10-20% in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a lot of possibilities both for apprentices and for all colleagues. I have been involved in social activities, sport matches and evening events - as well as being given time to support the Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EMR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a great place to work - the people are all friendly and supportive, every day is interesting and most of all we make a hugely positive impact on the environment!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EMR?
Be yourself, be curious and communicate well. Especially at apprenticeship entry level, it is all about being authentic when you meet members of the hiring team.
