Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Being an apprentice civil engineer at Level 3, the majority of my work is design based and I mainly use Autodesk Revit to create 3D models, as well as creating detailed drawing views and putting them onto sheets which are provided to the site team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my programme, whether it's work in the office or the college course that I took for my first two years. The work is very challenging and can be stressful at times, however it is also very rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've learnt lots of technical skills on various forms of software which have really helped me to be more efficient in my work and will help me to progress my career after the end of my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is very well organised. I was inducted into a team of BIM technicians who helped me very much through the early stages of my apprenticeship, and I now know I have a good group of people I can talk to if I have any issues with any aspect of my work
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer, with a line manager who checks up on me regularly and is also available whenever I need assistance. My employer has also created a great network of other apprentices, where we can all offer advice to each other and help to progress everyone's skills.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my training provider, who scheduled regular meetings to track my progress and help me overcome any obstacles when completing my course work. My training provider has also been very helpful while preparing me for my end-point assessment, giving me all the information that I will need and talking me through the assessment processes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification helps me to perform better as it gives me a better understanding of the job roles of others around me, as I have been taught about numerous aspects of the job, from health and safety to equality, diversity & inclusion, to the core values of my company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in, normally arranged by the sports & social team in my office as a good way of allowing people to make new connections. I played football with my colleagues every week for almost a year and found it very enjoyable.
