Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Team Assistant for Business Management across multiple teams. Ad-hoc queries, room bookings, IT asset management, reporting, updating trackers, payments for freelancers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Good extent - people are very friendly and the work is interesting. It naturally varies day-to-day in terms of difficulty, but it is generally good.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - lots of administrative skills and improving my time management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Fairly well. I stay in the same team and work good hours that are flexible from home/office. Some other apprentices have placements across multiple teams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot. My line manager is very supportive and helpful when I have questions or concerns.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Decent amount. I email when I have any questions and they answer quickly and we have webinars to launch each assignment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
A fair bit. Sometimes the training isn't relevant as my work can be specific to certain systems and not as general about business. Some is useful though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Staff networks and community groups, like the Apprentice Community. I am HR Lead of this community and we run events for apprentices. There are also lots of interesting volunteering and outreach opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Friendly environment and people, well organised and structured apprenticeships (as they do a lot), lots of opportunities to move/shadow/learn, and good connections.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Apply to a range of apprenticeships - don't stick with the only one that you initially want as you never know. Do your research before applying/interviewing. Be yourself and be enthusiastic in your interview. Be willing to move across the UK for your apprenticeship if you can as it will provide more opportunities.
