Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Organising logistics for a TV production. Speaking to contributors, making schedules, finding locations, organising copyright, recording expenses, supporting filming team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It's a fantastic opportunity, a really great programme. Of course, it is specific to what placement you get and what team you're on, but they really do work hard to make it the best opportunity it could be.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, so many. I've learnt so much about TV and all of the processes that go into making - in my specific case - a documentary series. So much that I could not have learnt outside of the industry.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
That depends from placement to placement. I have had great structure and know what is expected of me and the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a great amount of support from my line manager and production manager. I also feel that, as a whole, I am supported by the BBC and the higher-ups, who take a genuine interest in what we are going.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive support from my college tutor when we meet twice a month.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
The qualification does not feel necessary. It's the work that's done on placement that counts, where all the learning happens. The qualification feels like ticking boxes and is often repetitive. That said, it does not take up much of my time so I don't mind.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
The BBC and Young Talent Network have lots of events to meet others/chat to people. I would not confuse this was the type and quantity of social events that you are offered at uni, however.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because it is a renowned organisation that truly care about bringing up new talent. Everyone here wants to help, and it really couldn't be a better place to learn the ropes in TV.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be confident, or at least act it
