Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Currently year 1 - Typical store assistant work i.e: working stock/backstock, tills/self checkouts, date checking
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The programme is definitely geared towards school leavers and younger adults, which it would clearly be great for. That being said, although it is clear that the apprenticeship proves very beneficial to anybody who would take it on, and that this is typical of apprenticeships in general, it is difficult for me to oversee the low pay comparative to the rest of the workforce, especially considering the work is no different, and eventually would lead to increased responsibility while still being on lower pay.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Coming from a job with a very similar day to day, so far this apprenticeship has mostly developed my skillset as opposed to increased my knowledge as such, nothing has been particularly 'new' as of yet.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is very well organised, you get one shift a week as dedicated apprenticeship hours working towards your learning plan and the 'theory' side, as well as a personal tutor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Although at least in year 1 it seems that the employer tends to take a step back towards the apprenticeship, it is clear to me that if support was needed there would be no hesitation to give it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider provides plenty of support, always keeping in contact and offering feedback on all submitted work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
It's hard to say in year 1, but as it stands, you don't need an apprenticeship to help better your performance as a store assistant, just the right attitude.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
If there is any, I am not aware of them.
