Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is in a team within climate for JLR, I currently work on developing end of line test routines for the vehicles to ensure they work as intended off the production line.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme quite a lot, I do think some of the modules within the University can be a bit dull and shouldn't be on the course but for the most part I think it represents a DTS career quite well.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, working at JLR has developed many of my skills, particularly in communication and decision making

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is very well structured as we have frequent support from the early careers team as well as from our apprenticeship tutors at university.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have frequent meetings with my manager where I am supported as well as quarterly meetings with our cohort lead where I get the opportunity to feedback on any issues I may have with the course / role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have support from our lecturers if we have questions when completing assignments and our degree apprenticeship tutors are very good at supporting us to make sure we are meeting our KSBs as well as reaching our target with assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
There are many skills I learn from University that are put into my daily role with JLR. Working with vehicles I do a lot of testing and so the skills I get from debugging etc when programming come directly into that.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At JLR, we have a team called the Young People Network where there are frequent activities made available which you can take part in to meet other like minded young individuals. One of these I recently took part in was a Snowboarding session at Snozone in Milton Keynes.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
From my experience, JLR has been a great place to work where I have met lots of different people, and so far learned lots of valuable skills even though I am still in my first year of study. And the big salary is nice too :)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Put lots of effort into your initial submission as this is the stage where most people get rejected and if you get onto the interview stage you have a very high chance of getting the job.
