Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Maintenance of the manufacturing processes that build the engines that supply vehicle operations within JLR. Maintenance tasks involve working with robot machines, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC, Electrical and mechanical work. Preventative and Autonomous Maintenance tasks are done as well as Ad-hoc general breakdowns.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Really enjoying the apprentice programme so far, the mentors that I work with have all been really helpful and willing to show me how to carry out tasks safely and to a set process.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, Skills learnt so far have been working with robot machines, pneumatics, PLCs, Electrical and mechanical work. Some skills were pre existing from previous job role and experience but have developed them further since being on the apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Whilst on site, the structure is very organised. the experience at the training provider has been poor overall, especially in the 1st year when we were there full time it was poorly organised and often saw staff issues which would mean we fell behind on work and had to catch up at a later date.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have felt I have received plenty of support from my employer so far throughout the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
the support from the training provider is readily available but have often found responses to be very delayed if I have sent a question to a tutor over an email (sometimes could wait 2 weeks for a response)
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification I will gain at the end of the apprenticeship will certainly help me perform better in the role as a maintenance engineer
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of social activities available and are communicated through weekly bulletins but none of them interest me currently
