Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Every day is mostly different. My week consists of either assembling, disassembling or testing different assemblies. A portion of my time is devoted to completing college work, and making sure I understand the content. I work with talented engineers who teach me how to work to the best of my ability.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I consider myself extremely lucky to be in an environment which I enjoy to such a degree. I always look forward to going into work, and I'm always proud of the work I have completed. I find the content fascinating, both in work and in college.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learned many practical things during my apprenticeship so far, as well as developing social skills such as confidence in teaching others and inspiring younger generations to begin a career in engineering. I have developed my practical skills extensively, with the guidance and support of my peers and mentors.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured, although there are many factors in order to complete it - they are explained clearly and there is always someone to help if you have any questions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support I have received has been to a very high standard. I feel valued as an individual who, at times, needs more support than my peers. I receive support from both work and college, and I have never felt alone in anything that might have troubled me. Babcock has an Employee Assistance Programme which I have made use of, as well as very supportive mentors.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive support from college weekly. I have catch-ups with a mentor who has set up reasonable adjustments during college, which help me perform to the very best of my abilities whilst taking into account certain restrictions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The curriculum that we are learning is very interesting, whilst I have seen many examples of our theory work applied to our practical work, some of the theory seems slightly inapplicable. I can not say for sure if this is true, as I'm sure a lot of the knowledge will come in handy later on in my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra-curricular activities available through the apprenticeship, some of the most notable being the apprentice socials which are organised by the apprentices themselves. Other opportunities include the Babcock Boulderers (rock climbing) and also the Book Club. These are but a few examples, there's lots of opportunities to socialise within Babcock!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Babcock International Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Babcock is a great place to work, I think especially if you're fresh out of school its a fantastic place to be. I often think that I would have loved to start my career at Babcock earlier than I had, it will set you up with such a valuable work-ethic and it will take you so far if you put the work in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?
My advice to those who are applying is to show us exactly who you are and how much you have to offer. Be authentic, be courageous. We'd love to have you.
