Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
I complete various placements in order to achieve the various skills i must complete to pass my apprenticeship. My day-to-day routine varies depending on what the placement requires. Placement length also varies on how long I need to get everything I need out of the placement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I found the apprenticeship quite intense and whilst the work side was enjoyable, the degree element was extremely demanding and often not well structured meaning the university side was not as enjoyed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
Mainly developed my adaptability to various work environments, worked on my ability to network and socialising within the workplace

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
There was a lack of structure in my experience from both the work and university side. University was structured but poorly and lacked lots of consideration of various things. The areas of work I was in had no protocol or structure for managing an apprentice and most of my first year was wasted until I was given a new line manager who took it upon herself to add structure. Any areas that are being given apprentices for the first time should be given a presentation to explain everything that the apprenticeship will involve, what will be required of them, and should have assistance or at least have their plan reviewed to ensure no time is wasted and apprentices achieve everything they need to in sufficient time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my employer. I had a lot of points where I struggled with managing uni work or with any other issues. I was always listened to and supported and any accommodations I required were given to me. It was a very understanding workplace and I was also found to be neurodivergent during my apprenticeship which was accommodated well by the workplace.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I was fairly well supported by the training provider but they were at times confusing and didnt give information in advance. Most things were very last minute which caused lots of stress and confusion. However, when I was struggling with things they were very supportive and understanding. But there were some times when a knock-on effect occured and whilst some were supportive the unis processes weren't giving me the adjustments that mentors agreed I should have
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I didn't find much of my qualification relevant to my role or any placement I had. Also with achieving KSBs they were difficult to achieve as they were not realistic expectations of the working of a workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
No

JLR is a great company that I have no problems with. They are supportive, the people are nice and the facilities are great. The apprenticeships within the company are the things that need work
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Look up the company values to discuss in interviews as they are discussed a lot across the business
