Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Visa's Degree Apprenticeship is a rotational Program where we gain experience in different areas of the business, work varies dependent on the team that you are in and changes frequently but you work supporting in projects and managing a specific area of the team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Visa, the work can be challenging at times but whenever you face a challenge you are given plenty of support networks to help you tackle these. I have enjoyed being able to track my progress throughout rotations and receiving feedback from managers is a great way to motivate you. Additionally there are plenty of employee groups that you are able to involve yourself in to become a more active community member.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a wide range of transferable skills from problem solving and communication to excel skills. Most of the skills I have developed are transferable and have helped me to both perform in my role and outside of work in my personal life.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is structured excellently allowing us to gain experience in different areas of the business, strengthen our network and develop a wide variety of skills. We have training weeks that allow us to strengthen our skills outside of the teams and prepare us for where we want to take our career.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The early careers team will dedicate a specific point of contact where you are able to go to if you have any issues and they will help to overcome any problems. Additionally, you are placed in a team and the amount of support you receive will depend based on team. Typically, you will receive a line manager and in my experience these managers are extremely supportive then you also receive a buddy from your team who will guide you through the early stages of your work. You also receive a buddy from an apprentice in the year above and there is a strong network of apprentices who you will be able to connect with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Corndel provide you with a Professional Development Expert (PDE) who is your one point of contact if you have any struggles with your studies. Your PDE is very open to connecting with you and will be able to join calls and walk you through any areas if you are struggling to understand concepts.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
You learn lots of skills that will help you perform in your role, the qualification is a management degree so does not always directly provide you with skills and techniques that you are able to apply every day. However, having awareness of this will help you develop skill such as communication and problem solving which are required every day to collaborate and work well with your team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is a Visa football team that takes part in weekly Fin-Tech Football League competitions, additionally there are Employee Resource Groups that you can take part in and become a member of. These are a great way to expand your network and meet similar people from across the business as a whole.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Visa is a great company full of friendly people that will help support your development, you are given the option to take your career and move it in the direction that you want. If you have a vision on where you want to take your career you will be given the opportunity to gain experience in that function and develop the necessary skills to succeed there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
When applying I would say to show your interest and passion to develop yourself and your professional skills. Be inquisitive and demonstrate your eagerness to learn and show how Visa offers you a pathway to achieve this. Be aware of what Visa is and how we operate.
