Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I attend a scrum call in the morning which determines what I need to do for the day whether that is continuing with current tasks or if finished new tasks. I normally work on cloud platforms like GCP and AWS developing pipelines
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme itself is quite enjoyable thanks to the number of apprentice colleagues I have which helps with University work and also as a way to having some to reach out to when needed.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt a lot about fine tuning code to make it maintainable and easier to read which included improving the efficiency and run-time. I have learnt a lot about data transformations and how data is stored, fetched and processed.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

In terms of the work side, the team you are allocated to is random so you don't know whether or not you will have coding tasks or not which needs improving especially as a software engineer you need that exposure which wasn't present in my home team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The employer provides a lot of support in all regards especially for University as we get days an additional day off before an assignment is due so we can focus on the assignment.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider is good at providing sufficient teaching for me to understand the modules and to pass the assignments. The professors are quite helpful and reply when you need them including the weekends.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Some modules that are provided are directly linked to my role and help me understand the core concepts of what we are doing like building a website was a useful assignment to understand fullstack development. Other modules may not help me currently in my role but will help me as a software engineer moving forward
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a lot of events that occur throughout the year and there are specific events for apprentices as well to get to know one another and have outings.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
JLR offers good job security a structured apprenticeship programme with consistent pay rises and I believe a guranteed job assuming you pass the apprenticeship. Additionaly, being an automotive company there are a lot of fun experience activities that we as employees can undergo.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Understand the strategic goals of JLR and their current issues and how they are trying to address them. In additon, have an understanding of the difference you want to make and why will also help
