Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I spend 4/5 days travelling around the Yorkshire region shadowing engineers on different breakdown, maintenance and installation jobs for on Siemens Healthineers Imaging Equipment. Each day is at a different customer site and with different Engineers on different systems so I am able to get a good range of experience on all of our different products. I also spend 1 day a week at college completing my HNC.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I do genuinely really enjoy my program, I like working with the range of different engineers on a variety of impressive equipment. All of the engineers I work with are really knowledgeable and can have a good laugh which makes it nice to go to work in a morning. The training I have received has also been great, I have spent time in Germany at our training centre which is a great experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout my apprenticeship I have learnt lots of different skills, including working with electrical equipment, fixing mechanical problems, dealing with customers professionally and general communication skills. As well as this my HNC course at college has helped to develop my Maths and Electrical principles knowledge which helps with my day to day work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I would say that the program is very well structured now, in the past with our old training provider things could be difficult at times, however this has now been greatly improved upon with our new provider. From a work perspective I have quite a lot of flexibility with my day to day jobs, which works well for me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support from my employer is great, our manager is always available for support and will go above and beyond to help with any problems I have. The engineers I work with are also very supportive and happy to help with any technical questions I may have
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider gives me good support with my qualifications, we have meetings with our assessor every 6 weeks where we review my performance, off the job hours and any work which needs to be completed towards my qualifications. This has been a great improvement over our previous training provider and I feel much better about my progress now than previously.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My HNC qualification is definitely helpful in my work, we are currently covering Maths and Electronic principles which directly relate to my job role and I have applied what I have learnt in my day to day job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have apprentice forums twice per year where all of the apprentices meet up. One of these is the graduation event and one is an educational where we tour a Siemens facility or similar. We also have regional social events paid for by the company.
