Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Learning how broadcast and studio equipment works, how to troubleshoot issues, and how to maintain equipment to ensure output.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I'm really enjoying it so far and have learnt a lot. Everyone is friendly and keen to teach apprentices about their jobs

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
How to solder, what equipment is used in a radio or TV studio, common issues with the equipment, the process to follow when fixing equipment, how computer systems work, how to code an arduino

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I like that the university and work placements are split into three month alternating blocks, as it allows me to focus on one thing at a time. By the time my first university block ended, I was ready to start working; now my first work placement is ending, I feel ready to go back to university.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have fortnightly check-ins with my manager and there are weekly drop-in sessions with the course leaders.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The university staff are happy to provide support when asked
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The things learnt during the university block tie into the work really well, and the practical work helps to consolidate the learning
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Lots of staff networks to get involved in, I've been to the apprentice socials and there are opportunities to help out with outreach, such as Girls in ICT Day.
