Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Management and leadership of 10 Inspectorate officers. Providing oversight of daily tasks (e.g. sickness and workload management); supporting officers as needed; Regular performance management. Support senior leaders with change rollout and change management
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Really enjoyed it. The course was rolled out at a pace which was manageable and I never felt I was struggling to keep up. Very well set out and put together training courses on each topic which were easy to understand.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - managing difficult conversations more effectively; better understanding of all the project management skills; improved time management; better delegation skills where appropriate; understanding and controlling my own emotional intelligence and responses to stressful situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well-structured. Each topic seemed to follow on naturally from the previous one. Well-organised and plenty of advice available from Corndell on the way when needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I received support in terms of being allowed the time away from my normal job to undertake the work and study. I also had the occasional check-in from one of our Apprenticeships team to check progress. Mostly just left to get on with it, which suited me anyway
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A high level - they were always available for advice and guidance and quick to respond to any questions or queries. lots of help also preparing for Gateway.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Definitely will help. Not all subjects were as relevant to my role as others, of course. But plenty for me to learn and use moving forwards in my manager / leader role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
None that I use or am particularly aware of. But I am very busy outside of work so haven't looked - they are probably there if I searched for them

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSPCA to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Excellent company to work for which performs an important public service in securing better welfare for animals, Definitely more of a vocational job, but staff are well-supported and there are plenty of different job opportunities and potential promotion opportunities around the Society
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSPCA?
We need dedicated and invested individuals who have animal welfare at their core. It is more than just a 'job' and becomes a part of your life. Integrity and commitment are key attributes for anyone wishing to join the RSPCA
