Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as a software engineer focusing on architecture, particularly in the Cúram framework. My role involves designing scalable, reusable solutions, optimising technical designs, and leveraging AWS technologies.
Day to day, I collaborate with my team, provide technical guidance, and support architectural decisions. I work closely with stakeholders, troubleshoot issues, and refine requirements with QA. Continuous learning and innovation are key to my role.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme as it challenges me to grow both technically and professionally. It has given me opportunities to develop my expertise in architecture, cloud technologies, and leadership while working on impactful projects like Gen AI. I also appreciate the chance to mentor others and continuously improve my problem-solving and communication skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've been developing my expertise in Java 8 while refining my skills in software architecture, particularly in Cúram. My AWS knowledge has deepened through certifications, and I’ve strengthened my leadership by mentoring others and driving initiatives like the Gen AI project. Persuasive communication training has also enhanced my ability to influence and collaborate effectively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well-structured, providing a clear path for technical and professional development. It balances hands-on experience with opportunities for learning, such as certifications and training. While there’s flexibility to explore new technologies like Gen AI and Spring Boot, I sometimes need to take initiative to drive my own growth.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive strong support from my employer, with access to training, certifications, and mentorship opportunities. My team and leadership are approachable, providing guidance when needed. However, I often take the initiative to drive my own development, especially in areas like architecture and emerging technologies.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive structured support from my training provider, including guidance on coursework, feedback on assignments, and access to learning resources. While the support is helpful, I often take the initiative to deepen my understanding and apply my knowledge in real-world projects.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification provides a strong foundation in software engineering principles, which helps me perform better in my role. The coursework aligns with real-world applications, particularly in architecture and cloud technologies. However, I often supplement my learning with hands-on experience and self-driven projects to bridge gaps and stay ahead in my field.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are plenty of extra-curricular activities at work, including social events, networking opportunities, and professional development initiatives. I’ve attended industry events like the UK IT Industry Awards and persuasive communication training. There are also opportunities to get involved in mentorship, knowledge-sharing sessions, and communities of practice, which help build connections and develop skills beyond my day-to-day role. All practises and projects organise socialising activities online and in person. We have at least 1 social party per quarter
