Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

my role involves liaising with stakeholders in the business to identify training needs and create bespoke learning interventions, and to work on projects aligned to our business and learning and development strategy. I also deliver the leadership development framework for our award winning career pathway programme.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme, I have been in learning and development for almost 10 years, but it has been great to really get the theory behind what we do, and how to apply this in a more strategic way,

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt much more about the adult learning cycle and also how to create digital learning. This has involved using Ai technology to create video learns and engaging content.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's very well structured and easy to follow, there are monthly taught sessions, followed by assignments/homework and research. I get to have regularly contact and catch ups with my tutor.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager ensures I have protected time each week to complete my 20% OTJ hours, and that I am given opportunities to put to use the knowledge I have learnt.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot, I know i can contact my tutor if I have any issues and they are more than willing to put time in to have a call and answer any questions, or be as helpful as they can.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel this qualification is crucial for me to do my role in a more a strategic way. It helps me understand the foundational frameworks and understand what our offerings are, and importantly how to make improvements based in fact.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have our Employee networks, which is a fantastic colleague led initiative that spans across a range of different sectors and groups. We have networks that are for employees run by employees to come together to share best practice, collaborate and engage with like minded individuals. For example, we have our Women in Food, which is all about empowering women working within the food and hospitality sector through leadership tools, talks and networking events. Similar for our Pride in Food, You Matter Mental Health etc.

Why?

I would recommend compass group, it is a supportive and inclusive workplace that promotes individual development. One of their main pillars is "people" and that involves their development, well-being and career aspirations. Compass have so much support in place for their employees, whether that is mental health, financial, physical or career.
