Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I train new unit managers and support units with all things culinary and take part and assist the operations team in the day to day business of providing primary school meals.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Greatly as it's encouraged me to get back to thinking of food in different ways instead of just children's meals bound by school food standards.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

By doing my apprenticeship I've widen the area that I work in and gained knowledge of other parts of the compass group.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Structure as been a little muddled as Hit say the level 4 culinary Chef apprenticeship that I'm doing is arranged and marked differently than others they do. Masterclass days are aimed at level 2 and 3 learners so not really relevant to my course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I'm left to do it in my own time and do alot at weekends and during school holidays not during my working day.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Darren always answers emails or rings me back if needed. We do face to face meetings when possible.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I haven't been able to put any of it into practice as our menus come from central and are adapted and tested by the senior culinary team

I love my job as get to teach adults and children and be part of there culinary experience
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?
Embrace opertunitys and learn as much as you can. Children need to understand why health and nutritious food is important. Look at the big picture we are more than school cooks and dinner nannies
