Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role revolves around monitoring daily and matchday revenues, raising sales invoices to the client, reconciling matchday takings. Also deal with supplier statement reconciliations, managing accruals logs and raising any queries that come up. I also post journals for month end
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy learning about accounting and the business environment - this is highlighted by the fact that i have completed two apprenticeships prior to the CIMA course that i am studying now.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt a lot of new excel skills as i use the system everyday. Communication skills have also developed significantly throughout the duration of my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My course have been well structured with known deadlines and clear indicators of how progress is being made, and what else needs to be done in order to succeed and pass the relevant exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive good support from my employers, with one days study leave a week to learn and revise. I am comfortable raising any issues with my superiors and they check up on me frequently to ensure i am progressing as expected.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider showed good support while i was doing the initial online classrooms for the first module which i have just completed. The resources available on the BPP website are very good and no doubt made a big impact to passing my first exam
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The AAT courses that i have already completed helped me perform better in my role as they allowed my to understand the role of the finance function and the accounting concepts that are used daily. The CIMA course that i am currently enrolled on might not be helping me perform better as such at present, but it is clear that this is shaping me to be progress to a higher role within the company and be of more value.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
We do have social activities for the team sporadically throughout the year to build the team spirit and keep moral high following busy periods. We also occasionally have events for the wider finance team within Compass, again to ensure that the team are all familiar and feel valued. There are also townhall style meetings where we are kept up to date with business progress and how the accounts are looking etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Compass group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have worked in a number of roles at Compass and have always felt well supported, heard and valued as part of the team. The team spirit is always high at Compass venues due to the nature of the work and various departments work together in unison to ensure a good service is provided. I have always felt like there are clear pathways to progress within the business, with superiors advocating for learning and progression through apprenticeships such as the one i am enrolled on. Many of my colleagues have been at the company for many years, which shows that Compass is a good business to work for, and why i would recommend it to others.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?
I would advise to look thoroughly through the roles and venues that are available due to the scale of the business. It should also be understood that you will need to be flexible in order to work to the needs of the business which may not suit everyone. I would also advise to try and get on an apprenticeship/training scheme as there are many available for a variety of roles throughout the business, and these kind of courses can only benefit you in the short and long term.
