Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
L6 Project Management Apprentice - consists of a variety of projects and tasks from events management, mapping processes, stakeholder management, communications etc. I work on a wide variety of different projects offering great experiences and development opportunities. The work I do is useful for the company and our wider ambitions, so this helps me feel part of the company
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the apprenticeship a lot - I enjoy the work I do, this is useful, empowering and I feel like the work I do makes a difference. I am given responsibilites and the projects I work on are varied. The people around me are great, and I'm enjoying every second

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Loads!! Honestly I have learnt and developed so many key skills in the 20ish months I have been here. From basic skills such as different software's, to communication skills. The apprenticeship has been a great way of gaining experience and continuous development of my skills in lots of different aspects

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well structed. I have a set study day where I complete the study side of my apprenticeship. Alongside this, I work in my normal teams. I feel that the structure is good which helps my development
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Personally, I receive a lot of support. The team I work in focuses on apprenticeships so I am in a position where I have lots of support if needed. Besides this, I have regular catch ups with managers/ project teams to help me and them with work we do.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Not as much support from my training provider. Support is there, however not as obvious or hands on as it could be. I feel like the training provider could do more to help/ guide us when writing assignments and completing assessments
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My qualification does somewhat make a difference and it allows to apply some theory into my job, however for the majority of work, I do not really apply that much work from my qualification into my day to day job. But, saying this, I think my job helps me to understand my academic learning better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, lots of opportunities. We have lots of staff networks which people can join, and a high number of other apprentices up and down the country. This means socials/ networking are frequent which creates a good working environment

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Genuinely a great place to work - good culture, staff are down to earth and friendly/ approachable which is nice for new joiners. Work is interesting and varied
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be yourself - we are looking for your personality and what you're like as a person just as much as your skills/ qualifications, especially at apprenticeship level
Try to draw upon transferable skills and real life examples to make you stand out in the application process
