Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have only been in plant for 2 months now as I was in college full time previously. On most days I work with technicians on the workshop floor and discuss solutions with engineers based on my hands on experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
From what I've been doing so far I do enjoy this programme a lot and I am excited for future opportunities and sectors I can go into at the company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have learnt many new skills at college and in plant which are mainly manual skills (milling, turning, soldering, electrics). I've developed my presentation skills and report writing skills as well.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I like the idea of having college one day a week as it splits the week up nicely and when learning content it doesn't feel like an overload. I like how we have a 3 month placement every year as well so we get the chance to explore different sectors of the company.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I get a lot of support from my manager and supervisor on top of that I can also go to the early careers team. I also have a work based learning mentor that I can go to for help so there are many different source of support from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They are very transparent with the tasks we have to do and are open to extending deadlines based on certain circumstance. A wide range of resources are available as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
A lot of theory that I learn I've been able to apply in my role and it helps me understand certain things at work which I wouldn't normally. Also, the manual skills they taught as well have been really helpful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are many early career socials, events and sports team to join. Also, occasional events can come up which I can get involved in with the rest of my team.
