Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work within the Metrology department which is measurement. We prioritise the quality of different panels and Assemblies. We measure many different holes and slots etc to ensure all parts are within spec.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am in the 3rd year of my apprenticeship and have so far enjoyed every bit of it. I enjoyed all the skills that I learnt while based at the training provider and also enjoy learning new skills while based at plant itself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills as well as developed on them, This consists of many hand on skills such as bench, milling, turning etc which I had never done before as well as skills which are specific to my job role such as using the CMM machines and how they work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured and is clear what is needed from us and how each year is planned out. You are reminded quite regularly what is expected and how the rest of the programme will be presented.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a decent amount of support from my employer especially when completing any outstanding apprenticeship work such as my level 3 qualification. Support is consistently available for when you need it.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider will do everything they can to ensure that you are on track and are completing your work correctly. They will also make sure that you are doing enough to pass and are always in touch with your progress.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

All the skills that I have gained from my qualification have helped when working as they give you a base indication on how to perform your job correctly.
