Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Electrical technician, assembling and fitting electrical test equipment to production vehicles, to be used in the verification and validation of the unreleased future electrical architectures. The role also requires some software and computer networking verification efforts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am very happy with the programme. JLR have been very accomodating in finding me a role that best suits my requirements. I am very pleased with ym day to day involvement with the company and enjoy the job. The university side is challenging and rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my programming expertise (C, C++, Python, Matlab) and my skills as a technician (tool use and soldering).

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The interplay between the University side and the Employment side is handled very well, with frequent review sessions between the two. Both parties are accommodating of the expectations of the other. The progression from year to year through the university side is very clearly laid out, with skills and knowledge clearly building ontop of each other over time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive outstanding levels of support from my employer. This includes frequent 1:1 sessions with management, as well as mental health services.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive outstanding levels of support from the university of warwick. We have lecture and seminar weeks roughly every 6 weeks, and module tutors are available for additional support sessions and ad hoc queries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My day to day job is quite distinct from my qualification, but the modules we cover at university help with my understsanding of the larger development picture at JLR.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, but i'm not one to attend.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a great place to work, with an abundance of possibilities and a willingness to aid individuals in finding a role that brings out the best in them. I feel a strong sense of pride working for a British OEM.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
I can only advise based on the domain I work in (AAD V+V). In which case I would advise individuals to cover introductions to electrical networks, AAD and verification and validation. Other than that I would recommend individuals display themselves in an honest and holistic manner.
