Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Currently, I work in automation, using JavaScript. Day to day I will partake in daily stand ups, writing code, writing documentation, and doing code reviews. I collaborate closely with my team and with the customer, and we use an Agile framework.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It's fantastic. The work is exciting, dynamic, and fulfilling. The company makes sure I have the time required to complete university work. The people here are all lovely to work with and there is a fantastic culture and work-life balance. I have made a lot of friends.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to use Agile-related software such as Lucid and Jira. I have learned to code in JavaScript. I have learned the basics of CAE. I have learned about translating business requirements into a software-based solutions that meets the needs of the customer.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well organised. Within work, things are somewhat structured, but as you go on placements etc this is usually on a case by case basis. If i want to go and work in a different part of the company, I am largely free to do so. University very well structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has made it clear that the priority is my training and development. They give us a lot of very worthwhile benefits, including an ample holiday allowance. They support me to understand the work that I am doing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A good level of support. I have my own personal tutor who I can speak to about any issues I'm having, and my lecturers are always available to answer questions that I have. There is some flexibility with due dates etc given that workload is dynamic and we may need longer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I am still early on, so it is likely yet to have a proper effect. However, I have had a good opportunity to implement learned concepts at work. Transferable skills- such as the logic behind software - are used frequently.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Absolutely loads. JLR is like a mini university itself. In terms of sports, there is skiing/snowboarding (including trips abroad), basketball, badminton, hiking, go-karting, and more. There are loads of networking events, and there is a network of young professionals through which socials etc are held.

Yes
Why?
Exciting work, work-life balance, extracurriculars, support for training and development, great people and culture, plethora of actual good benefits (I'm sure there is plenty more I've missed)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Demonstrate that you are keen to learn and develop as a person. Demonstrate that you have a passion and appreciation for JLR's products. Show how you as a person align with JLR's overall strategy. Demonstrate that you possess good soft skills (teamwork, communication, etc.)
