Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a software engineer that works on development of internal software used by our suppliers for automated vehicle testing in ADAS.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It's very demanding and requires a lot of time management, especially during periods of sequential deadlines and work pileup. I do enjoy the programme outside of that as the main concern.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have achieved a certification in the ISTQB, and I have gathered a lot of new knowledge about vehicles in general and more specifically the ECU module alongside it's components.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program teaches well and the modules seem relevant to our degree and what we experience in the real working world for our job. The problem is the lectures don't seem relevant to the assignment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer and more specifically my manager, whom is very supportive and makes sure I have the time and resources to finish everything effectively.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support from Warwick is a mixed bag, it seems to be heavily dependent on the lecturer or the course lead and can vary a lot.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualification would further my future career (hopefully) but as far as degrees go, seems only 10% relevant to my real day to day work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of activities, socials and events to get involved with and they're run incredibly well and I thoroughly enjoy myself. It's a great way to do things outside of university timings.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The programme is very comprehensive, the degree is from a prestigious university, the work I really enjoy and the skills I pick up is useful to my career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Interview practice. Lots of it.
