Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the Quality Investigations, Complaints & Inspections team. I aid the team by tracking and monitoring all clinical complaints so we can remain on target for complaint resolution. This means complaint records are being closed on time. It is also because we want to remain compliant with our quality performance indicators for the quarter.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme. I feel it suits me really well and feel grateful that I have been given this opportunity. I would have never had exposure to quality/pharmaceuticals otherwise. I have enjoyed learning about quality assurance and pharmaceuticals so much that I decided to go to university. I will be studying Pharmaceutical Science in September 2025.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot about quality assurance and data analysis. Skills like organisation and attention to detail are important for this job role. Data analysis is practiced a lot as well. It has massively improved my ability to present in groups/meetings. Additionally, I speak to a lot of different people across the organisation so my ability to converse with unknown colleagues has improved.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well organised. I am currently doing my end-pint assessment right now, so I have finished the on programme learning. My tutor would host monthly sessions on Thursdays for us all to go through the content, then we would be set an assignment relevant to the material just learnt that was usually due before the next monthly session. The structure of the topics was logical and all fit well into the foundations of quality.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my manager at Pfizer and surrounding colleagues. My team members are all really friendly and inclusive. From prior work experience, this is the best team/manager experience I have ever had. If I need assistance to complete something for an assignment then my manager will always find a way to help me.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive support from my training provider when and as needed. They helped prepare me for my end point assessment for example, something I m undertaking right now. CSR are very helpful and want us all to do our best. They are flexible with conflicts to meeting assignment due dates, something I greatly appreciated.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think my qualification does help significantly in my job role. Whilst I may not need to use the exact same quality techniques as the course teaches me, I can understand other similar quality tools better. However, in an example like risk management, the tools I learn on the course do match what tools Pfizer use for those procedures.
