Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a software developer apprentice at EVRI I was involved with helping to complete tickets, within a squad that I was assigned to, while also carrying out assignments for QA that were based on the work which I did within my squad. Working along side other experienced devs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much, after completing it, I still enjoy working with my squad having become apart of the team. It was a great introduction to the software development industry and everyone within the company has been really helpful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I've become familiar with Kanban and Agile environments, working in a squad that uses those methodologies, and have become proficient in using Git to collaborate with other developers and testers, also getting the opportunity to show my work to wider stakeholders within the company.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There were a couple cancelled online lessons on the behalf of the apprenticeship provider but it was always handled well and rescheduled. I have no complaints regarding structure. They were very flexible with working around annual leave as well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I can always contact someone and as mentioned before they're very willing to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Quite a bit, they were always making sure I had everything I needed in place to get assignments done on time etc.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It gave me advice and training from people who had been involved in that very field which was really beneficial. You could tell that the trainers were well experienced which encouraged me to learn. Things like training in Git really helped.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yeah there's a Christmas party every year and often events hosted in the office.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Evri to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The experience is not something you could achieve by doing a university or college course, the fact they offer and apprenticeship at this level is really great.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Evri?
Definitely do some personal coding projects to show you're able to practically do what is needed. Get familiar with web dev, things like React.js or Vue. And with Git as well. Then get those things on your CV when you apply.
