Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work within the Client Core COO and I am part of the change pillar. This means my team and myself ensure corporate/client/ regulatory change is implemented smoothly and effectively. I work with a range of different teams on a range of different projects meaning I have exposure to a range of roles. I have t create timelines, presentations, come up with project plans, attend meetings, host training sessions and an array of other tasks. Every day is different working on this team which means it's fun and I am approached with different challenges but receive the support to be able to face these challenges and learn.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am enjoyed the programme a lot. I feel extremely supported with a team buddy and an apprentice buddy as well as everyone in the firm being lovely and helpful. I have been able to learn a lot from individuals and been able to go for 'coffee catchups' with colleagues who work in other teams to find out more about there role. Each day I learn more and I am able to develop my knowledge. I feel supported through my study's to get my qualification.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new skills and developed new ones. Blackrock has Blackrock academies where I am able to take courses to develop my knowledge (e.g on excel). With support from my team and manager I have developed my skills using software such as PowerPoint and excel. I have learnt communication skills and developed my skills on how to work in a professional environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well structured. We get 6hours minimum a week to study and my team is very understanding for when I have an upcoming exam that I will need additional study time. I have weekly meetings with my line manager to discuss tasks. Each week there is a two hour webinar to cover a chapter in the textbook for our exam and once completely covered we have a certain amount of weeks before our exams to have independent study.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel very supported. I always feel comfortable to ask questions and I am encouraged to do so. I have an apprentice buddy and a team buddy as well as my manager/line manager and fellow team members. Everyone has been welcome to help and I have met other people in the firm from other teams who have always said to ask if I need anything
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Through my training provider I have a apprenticeship 'mentor' who I meet up with every 6 weeks. She asks abotu how I am finding my role and my apprenticeship. I have weekly webinars which covers content of my course and allows an opportunity to ask questions. I can also email if I have any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
A lot of what I have studied in my course is relevant to my day to day role. It has helped me understand topics that come up in meetings and understand how my work is impacting clients. It gives me background of the industry I am working in so helps me with my role fairly significantly
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At Blackrock there are many networks we can get involved in. For example, a women's network and social mobility and many more. These often host events, for example a few weeks ago there was a Chinese new year event. These give great opportunities to network. There are also opportunities to get involved in charity events and there are often sporting events (e.g. running + football) which everyone is able to be part of. There is an analyst alley which hosts events and talks which is relevant for the seniority we are and its great to learn about how to develop your career.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BlackRock to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Blackrock is a great company to work for because of the culture, everyone is willing to help and answer questions no matter how senior they are, they will always find time. I feel very supported, and I am surrounded by so many talented individuals who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge. I have a great opportunity to work in such a big company and to be able to gain a qualification. It is a great company to work for and gain experience in so I would definitely recommend
