Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Setting out, material ordering, quality checking, completing inspections on materials and phases of work
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's great. The balance between being on site, and then in the classroom makes the whole learning experience engaging and enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Developed communication, time management, and improved forward planning

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very organised, we all know when we are in college, we have events planned throughout the year for our own professional development, and there is a weekly timetable sent out for CPD that we join if we want, therefore we can decide what will be useful to us.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Everyone in the business is there to support you, whether it's people in the office, or the people on site. There is a great support here.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The learning materials are useful, and tutors are quick to answer any questions on teams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that things we learn in the classroom help us with our general knowledge of the industry, whereas what we learn on site helps us practically, so the two balance each other out nicely.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many CPD events, social events and networking events. At the end of our first year, we had a development day in Birmingham, where all of the apprentices got together to have an award ceremony after.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JN Bentley to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a friendly environment, there is lots to learn, and people are always there to support you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JN Bentley?
Just be yourself, when going into an apprenticeship, they don't expect you to know everything already. They want people who have an understanding of what the job is, and who show they are willing to learn.
