Overall, how would you describe your experience at JN Bentley?

Overall, my experience at JN Bentley has been very positive. I've had the opportunity to work on a range of projects, learn from experienced colleagues, and develop both my technical and professional skills. The supportive culture, focus on safety, and opportunities for growth have made it a great environment to start and develop my engineering career.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My role involves supporting engineering design work, carrying out calculations and assessments, producing technical documentation, and working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective solutions. The aspects I enjoy most are solving engineering problems, learning from experienced colleagues, and seeing designs progress into real projects that make a positive impact.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I feel my role is preparing me really well for my future career. I'm gaining hands-on experience across a variety of projects, taking on real responsibilities, and learning from experienced engineers. The support for training and chartership is also helping me build the skills and confidence needed for the next stages of my career.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

I would rate it highly. I'm constantly developing new skills through both training and day-to-day project work, with plenty of opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues and take on new challenges. This has helped me grow both technically and professionally.

How is the support you receive?

I've received excellent support throughout my time so far. My line manager, mentor, and buddy have all been approachable and supportive, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities to take on meaningful responsibilities. I've also found HR helpful when needed and appreciate the support available for training, development, and progressing towards chartership.
Overall, I've felt well supported both professionally and personally. While there is always room for improvement, I haven't felt that anything significant has been missing from my experience so far.

While project demands can vary, there is flexibility when needed and a strong culture of looking after people's wellbeing. I feel able to maintain a healthy work-life balance while continuing to develop professionally and contribute to projects.

The role has matched my expectations very well. The recruitment process gave a good overview of the work, culture, and development opportunities available, and my experience has reflected that.
