Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is supporting relationship managers, with my day to day role being organising meetings, speaking with customers through emails & phone calls, collaborating with various teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for our customers but also learn through on-the-job training days and additional resources such as regular reading modules and training from my buddy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
In my opinion, the programme is excellent as it offers gradual immersion into the role. I am enjoying the role greatly as it offers a great support & opportunities, but also gives time to learn on the job. My team have also been brilliant in supporting & coaching me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned how to use the internal systems, how to better use zoom & i have developed my communication skills through customer interactions & team meetings. I have also enhanced my digital literacy skills as the bank supports various internal digital developments and automations. Furthermore, I have learned more about the financial & banking sector, with more in-depth learning of the NatWest offerings.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
In my opinion, the programme is structed very well. It gives time for studies, and also due to the hybrid work model allows for meeting with the team/customers &am working from home. I believe the work given is thought out to not only support my progress and help me achieve my learning outcomes, but also give me opportunity to meet different customers and work with different teams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have an excellent support structure in place. I have received training & feedback not only from my team but also other teams in the region. There is also a buddy system in place where you get trained by the apprentice before you. There are also other people for you to turn to, such as your Apprenticeship Champion or the Early Talent team. Furthermore, you also have the Apprenticeship Council that can also support you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have received excellent help from my training provider, and I can gladly say that my coach has been there for me shall I need them but have not overburdened me with pointless meetings or check-ins.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I believe it is widely important as if you come from a non-banking background, you need that theoretical aspect to help with the understanding of the banking & finance sector. It also helps as it gives you a range of resources that you can use to educate yourself and promotes a deeper understanding by reflecting on your work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of opportunities to join many events or teams shall a person want to. The firm gives us the opportunity to find out what we are interested in and gives us the ability to pursue it. There are also student-led apprenticeship councils so they also organise events that you can participate in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The organisation has been amazing from the recruitment process to now. I was told what the interview process would look like & what types of questions to expect, I heard a response very quickly after my interview & was introduced to the team even before starting work. I received all the necessary support through my first months & my team made sure I had everything I needed to be able to work from home. Furthermore, I have been included in many activities and never made feel like my opinion does not matter.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Preparation before your interview is key & make sure you bring your true self to the interview.
