Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a team leader, and I supervise and lead my team to make sure the store is running smoothly. I deal with any customer complaints/ refunds, store compliance and supporting my team. I also work deliveries, date checks and stock shelves. I also do return to work with staff/ one on one chats with my team and I also communicate and new information to my team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am enjoying my programme, I feel like every topic I am covering. I take new and old skills and apply them to situations that I have to deal with in store. I am developing my skills that I already have and feel more confident in my role. I would definitely be interested after my apprenticeship to try out another apprenticeship or branch into a different department off the coop.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my skills and learnt new ones. I have learnt to be more resilient and have learnt how to deal with any conflicts within my team. I can now, speak to my team directly and do meetings with individuals and talk about how we can resolve any issues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel it is well organised and structured as my tutor is great at communicating with me and is very helpful. As soon as I finish one assessment I am immediately onto another, I am enjoying my assessments. As I started off on easy sort of assessments, and gradually building up to harder ones.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my manager. He is good to sit down and explain anything I struggle to understand and will explain everything in full. I have quarterly chats with my manager and he has been open to talk about my apprenticeship and tell me how I am doing and I have even had my area manager and another manager tell me that I have been doing well. It good to have acknowledgement
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a lot of support, and from my previous answer, like I said. I get quarterly chats about how well I am doing in my role and it is brought up about my apprenticeship. I also bring up anything I may not quite understand or need help answering a question and he is quick to help. I also get a acknowledged for my work and its good to know and hear this. Especially from your manager as it makes me want to do better and progress.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Everything that I am learning and doing from my assessments, I do apply to my role everyday. It is good as it has built my confidence up a lot, and furthered my already existing skills and have learnt new ones. I know more about why we do certain procedures and why it is important and I can then explain this information more throughly to my team. Not that I didn't know before, but I have more time to sit down and read about things more.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I try to get more involved doing more charity work. I have been creating more hampers to raise money for barnardos and myself and our baker came up with a coop open day, with a raffle stall to help raise money.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Co-op to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel working at the coop, I have really come out of my shell. Everyone is really friendly and they really support and make sure you get any help that you need. I have gone from the smallest contract at the time (12hrs) and now I am at 39hours which is the most contract hours you can get. I have really built my confidence and feel like I am contributing to my local store. Its a really rewarding job at the end of the day.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Co-op?
I would suggest, if your a friendly and a hard worker and got a good work ethic and like working with the public. Then working for the coop is definitely for you.
