Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day-to-day role consists of a daily stand up meeting, I then meet with my mentor and we work on the tasks allocated in the sprint planning or in the daily standup. At capgemini you manage your time, this gives me the freedom to do training, certifications or even catch up with my peers
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme can be challenging sometimes, there were issues with the training provider last year which has trickled through to this year. The issues have been raised before but nothing seems to have changed. Other than that I am happy with the training provider, it isnt directly the fault of Capgemini

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new programming languages as well as the systems build for those languages. I have learnt various methodologies and best practises with relevance to software engineering. I have also developed my communication skills as well as coming out of my shell more

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme structure is amazing, you have a lot of free time to work on your assignments and you dont feel too overwhelmed, there is a massive support group within the apprenticeship community thats always there to help out
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
They have extremely helpful, I am given study days if I need it as well as them being understanding that I am an employee but also a student, and that at times I may need to prioritise one thing over another. I am yet to have a bad experience with my employer
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider is somewhat helpful, issues are raised directly and we have seen some change however things can get lost at times
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification helps me a lot in my day-to-day role, a lot of the fundamentals and techniques I use were learnt and practised with my provider, they were helpful lessons definitely
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are tons of communities, there are communities for all different types of interests and people. There are sports groups you can join, video game groups, religious groups, fun working groups, the list goes on. There are many opportunities to go to conferences and days out and Capgemini fully supports this.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have recommended my friends to enroll on the same program as me before, I wouldn't want to go to university the normal route if it wasnt through a degree apprenticeship, capgemini give you a full role with responsibilities unlike some companies. I feel valued there!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
There are a lot of tips you may read online but in my honest opinion you should learn about the company. If you truly want to work somewhere then they wont care about your grades, where you went to school, or anything like that. If you know what you want, you're passionate about the role and you truly want it then theres no reason why you cant. There were times I second guessed myself but Capgemini has truly changed how I live in just a few short months. If you're hesitating, reach out to apprentices on linkedin! They are so helpful and always respond, I'm one of them!
