Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Commercial based. Correspondence with both client and sub contractors, auditing works, compiling quotes etc
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Its mostly enjoyable, bit of an issue with HR, IT, Academy and Finance/expenses team, most problems require logging tickets which are low priority and can take weeks to resolve (if at all). Lots of chasing people in circles to gather info or requests. Not very relevant work currently with uni course but slowly getting there.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Refined speaking and communication skills in a professional setting

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Its so-so. Uni side there's a good focus on what the course wants from us, however VINCI side is a little lacklustre, my mentor has been great at getting me the experience I need so far but there has been little work given to me and a lot of wondering what comes next for me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A good amount, senior managers are accommodating and trying to get me as much experience out on site as possible, they always offer support if needed and provide good contacts within the business to those with relevant information to the uni modules
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
A lot of support offered, many people you can speak with, such as module leaders and support staff for whatever query you may have
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Currently my uni provides more support in the quantity surveying role than the workplace. At the minute it's general commercial assistant roles performed compared to more surveyor roles - building plans, Bills of Quantity, CAD softwares etc.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are 2 paid volunteering days per year, and weekly newsletters which highlight webinars and other opportunities but due to the size of the business (UK wide) there aren't always activities nearby, mostly focused around the south - London, Watford - head office etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Vinci to a friend?
No
Why?
The apprentice programme doesn't seem that well structured in terms of adequate and responsive support (as said earlier, can take weeks for problems to be solved. It took me 4 months to get access to my expenses and holiday booking system). There's a lot that can and should be improved upon for new people to the business
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vinci?
Expect many calls/email chains for any IT or HR that arises (there is a lot.) otherwise generally friendly people and mostly always helpful if you find yourself stuck and needing help with the work
