Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role as an ARM, I am responsible for the following: Chasing customer's management and annual accounts, advising excesses, creating Fraud and Operational Service Reviews to talk through with customers, interactions - calling customers to check in, attending business reviews, creating meeting notes, using platforms like CRM, Zoom and Teams etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I honestly love my role. My team is so welcoming and I've never felt like I was asking a "silly" question, even though everyone around me has years of experience in the bank I've never felt imposter syndrome. I truly feel a part of something great :)

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

In my role I have developed and improved many skills. I have so much more confidence than I did prior. My communication and literacy skills have improved, approaching customers in a professional manner but also personal.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think it is very well organised. We have monthly webinars and the pages to submit assignments and further reading are easy to access and understand. We also get reminders of when we have webinars coming up which is extremely helpful when you are balancing both studying and a working role at once. We was given a learning plan for the whole apprenticeship and told to put deadlines and live session in our outlook calendar which I have also found extremely helpful.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive endless support from my employer. Constantly being encouraged to step out of my comfort zone and to believe in myself because I am capable of achieving great things and progressing!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is always an email away if I have any questions or need further support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe this qualification is crucial to the role as it starts from the foundations of banking (the basics) all the way to things we will encounter day to day and how to approach customers. I am only a few months in but considering I had no banking knowledge prior, I truly feel like I've learnt so much already and I'm excited for what's next to learn!
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

In my role we have many professional networking events we can attend, as well as 3 days a year we are allowed to take off work to participate in charity work with the local community. I have also become a member of the collaboration hub where I am based to take part in more things like this more often.

Why?
As I've mentioned earlier, the culture, the support, everything really - is just truly incredible. In previous jobs I've never felt like I've been part of a team but at NatWest everyone looks out for each other and are only a phone call away if anyone has any questions or needs help.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Three words - Go for it! Best thing I ever did :)
