Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Building Services Design Engineer which is the role of designing the electrical/mechanical installations in a building, this will include an array of things from HVAC to lighting and small power etc. On a day to day I am mostly involved in the design process and create drawings and schedules while also dealing with clients and architects with some on site application as well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it quite a lot and find the day to day work to be very engaging as well as satisfying. Everyone I have met at my organization is always very friendly and helpful if I am in need of anything.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes most definitely, my ability to work efficiently and cohesively with people has improved due to the never ending deadlines of project work. Also, communication and social interactions wasn't my strong point but I am improving in that domain due to the exposure the job gives me. Among the general skills that I have learnt I have also gained a lot of knowledge and skills relevant to my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Organized well, I have been given a period of time working electrically and a period of time working mechanically and worked among an array of people in my team. The Education side is set out well with an EPA assessment at the end of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Alot, I've had no issues with finding help with anything weather it is a technical issue or queries about the programme, etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Enough, modules and learning is always set out quite well and again I have had no issues with contacting lecturers or peers about content or general questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Although I wouldn't say everything is directly relevant to the work I actually do, the majority of it is theory based and gives me more of an insight into the science of what I do at work as well as why I need to do what I am doing. It does also provide information about best practice but I personally find it much easier to learn that through my employer because then it is directly relevant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes. I am regularly emailed about networking events, we have team socials bi-monthly and other more casual socials occasionally, there is occasional 5 aside games organized and we also have Apprenticeship, technical, environmental and mental weeks across the year that often come with extra curricular activities and challenges with prizes, etc.
