Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My normal day includes speaking to direct clients on the phone and providing them with help and potential guidance. I have a strict schedule that I have to follow which is monitored. My daily schedule is nice and clear. There is always senior colleagues there to help if needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy being more skilled and efficient in understanding the investment world however I do not like having to be on a help line for clients and my calls being so heavily monitored. It can be quite a stressful job so that is why resilience is important

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My communication and active listening has improved the most as I am constantly listening and communication to clients. It is important I remain polite and resilient when speaking to clients. I also make sure my speech is clear and correct to avoid mistakes.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Structured very well as it is clear once settled who is their to support you for a general daily query. I also have many 121s with management to catch up and discuss anything that can be improved. I even have calls with a coach through my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot, if there are parts of the job I need to improve on or would like to I can reach out to more senior colleagues and have coaching sessions. The employer does not get too involved in the apprenticeship side however if I do have concerns with it I know who to go it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My apprenticeship coach is always there and is quick at responding to emails. However when I did ask for feedback on my first assignment (which is the only one I am on at the moment) I received no feedback which was disappointing as I asked for it very early
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I do not think it is linked much. However when I need to provide examples for coursework at least it ensures my calls are of a high quality so I can include them.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a gym on site though that is free to use and I love. The Christmas Party was very fun and most importantly the drinks were all paid for. There's no sports teams unfortunately there used to be a football thing before I joined which has now ended.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Fidelity International to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because the colleagues are really nice. I also like the environment including the culture and the office. It is also good if you would like to work more hours because I can work on Saturday mornings for double of my hourly wage. I also feel the salary is good and I'm looking forward to receiving a bonus as well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fidelity International?
Make sure you are confident and can hold a conversation in your interview. It is important to come across engaged and interested. Once joined I would advise you to always seek help if needed, if you are silent when you need help it is going to be harder to grow in your role.
