Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is an Apprentice Sales Advisor. On a day-to-day basis, my role includes serving customers at the till point, making sure to deliver excellent customer service, ensuring the store is well stocked, a high level of store presentation is maintained, and helping to achieve targets for our store.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The programme is quite enjoyable, although some day-to-day tasks can become mundane after a while.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt how to deal with the general public, I have grown in confidence, I have been improving my communication skills and I have developed more team work skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme is pretty well structured. I set learning goals for the month and am given 2 hours a week to complete my work, however this is often not long enough for the amount of work set. I do a lot of time on the shop floor, learning on the job.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I don’t often require support, but I know it is there when I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I don’t often need support, but I know I can receive it whenever I need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It helps me to understand the policies and procedures of the company. I also am able to put things I learn into practice when serving on the shop floor.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Superdrug to a friend?
No
Why?
The apprentice scheme is sometimes quite challenging as you get a lot of work set, but not a lot of time during the week to actually complete it. The tasks in store are simple enough, but easily become mundane pretty quickly. However, if you have a nice team to work with then it’s always a bonus!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?
Be aware that the work can become dull quite quickly, although it’s easy to pick up and isn’t very difficult.
