Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Fund Manager Assistant, my main responsibility is to complete the Monthly Fund Reports for all of the funds that we manage in the structured credit team. Day to day I do a lot of correspondence with state street to make sure our files match regarding trades.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my program, I am happy to be in a very intelligent and hard working team who are pushing me to develop my skills and help the team in any way possible. I am also enjoying the balance between work and my qualification.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have really improved my excel skills and have learnt how to do many formulas such as XLookups and SumIfs. On top of this I have gained a lot of confidence operating PowerBI and Blackrock Aladdin, two applications that were brand new to me.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organised I am enjoying it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive a lot of support. Firstly training provider support, secondly the apprenticeship manager arranges weekly catchups with me and the rest of the apprentice cohort to help us settle in well and my manager is also very supportive and willing to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have weekly study days to help me towards my qualification, as well as lectures. On top of this I have a training provider coach who I can ask for support and advice whenever and he also has a call with me and my manager every 6 weeks.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification is very well interlinked to my role, it references a lot about investments and also the regulatory bodies we have to comply with when making our investment decisions. The qualification also explains a lot of key terminology such as IRR and NPV.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have gone out for drinks multiple times since i joined, the team is very social and likes to have a good time outside of work. We also have a christmas party arranged.

Why?
Because I really like the culture here and it is a great place to work, very friendly people, great working environment and also a great work life balance.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G plc?
Be confident, do your research about the company and show a genuine passion and interest about working here and the particular role that you applied for. Also be patient and resilient as the recruitment process can be very lengthy.
