Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
- Identifying patterns and trends regarding specific domestic appliance reported issues and engineer repairs
- Assessing engineers with poor repair performance
- Making and distributing repair guides and product updates to the network engineers
- Updating online troubleshooter for specific products
- Visiting Authorised Service Centers
- Shadow engineers repairing products
- Regular calls with contact center regarding categorisation of calls and no fault found cases
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme but find that my university degree has less than desired overlap with my day to day job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
- Understanding how products work on a technical level and how to repair them
- Understanding the correlation between cause and effect - how the failure of certain parts influence performance

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is well structured but does feel like it is just 2 aspects joined together. Not as much synergy between day to day job and university degree as would be desired.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Employer provides support when approached. As the company work and everything is busy, the amount of support I get is correlated to how eager and proactive I am at asking for help when I am stuck, which I something I need to work on.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Could receive more, particularly with regards to coursework - model examples of coursework to be provided as I personally find it a bit of a struggle to do academic writing. It seems like the only modification the university has made to the curriculum for apprentices is the lectures/seminars structure (1 week every month, for 6 months). There is no change to coursework deadlines (e.g. deadlines in university teaching weeks) and unfortunately I find many areas not applicable or relevant to industry.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It heavily theoretical and so there is some overlap, however with my role in the workplace being more hands on and less about the highly theoretical aspects, it doesnt help as much as I would like it to. I can find areas of overlap and can relate new knowledge to different things I have seen and learnt in the workplace but this is not much.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are different networking events, sports activities and social activities. Many different opportunities to widen your network and understand different areas of the business.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Samsung Electronics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Working for a global large organisation allows you to see all the inner workings that you wouldnt expect.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Samsung Electronics?
Be authentic in your applications and the whole process. Sure you can blag it with chatGPT cover letters and the rest of it, but its easy to read through someone trying to be passionate. Only apply if its something your passionate about, not just for the big name and salary.
