Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Deputy store manager, completing deliveries, stopping off sales, organising and running shifts, completing health and safety checks, implementing stock control measures, completing admin tasks, handling complaints, refunds, customer queries. Enforcing standards to staff. Merchandising to get the most stock out while keeping it visually appealing, date checking products. Smiling at people
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy learning new things and becoming better, I enjoy seeing my colleagues, and I enjoy working, at times I have disliked the training providers as their communication with myself has not always been he best, and in general the training program has not suited me the best, and within my organisation I’ve always been supported in learning however Aldi don’t give the store management adequate information about the apprenticeship role so that I can get the most out of my training

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
My confidence within the role has developed massively wether it be handling customer complaints, directing staff or problem solving,
Problem solving is another skill which I have developed in my role even though the job is the same each day issues will arise with complaints, missing stock etc, where problem solving is essential to retain customers and to minimise loss within store,
My vocal skills continue to improve while using tone when speaking to people, or having to give tasks while others talk

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
As previous in terms of Aldi my training with store assistant and manager tasks was excellent,
However in term of key dates and times for my apprenticeship I and managers have been left unsure of exams and gateway etc
It seems uncertain what I should actually be doing in store as I reached the end of my first year
My training providers training was good in terms of learning the knowledge however i was left unsure of the exam process and what having mock exams and mock interviews would have really helps as well as conversation of common focus areas
Better communication is require from training provider as I was contacted by the exam authorities with no idea who they were
To help communication catering to people’s contact preferences as its online, not everyone I comfortable speaking on phone or text
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
So within the role is great when I have had questions about my role my manager has not always been able to support straight away but has always found the answer to support me
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My tutor has Been great in giving me knowledge and helping me complete ,my portfolio, however could have explained more about the interview and observation,
Using their learning system was easy
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel like the knowledge taught is helpful however a decent amount is learnt in role, learning of kpis is incredibly useful, however to improve they could include sections on building confidence and rapport with team
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
We do a yearly charity event and some years a football fund raiser but apart from that not that I’m aware of

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s good wage for the work, good progression opportunities, however I wouldn’t recommend to people who look for 40 hours of work or irregular shift patterns
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Research the company, know the role, and to act confident and be kind in interview, ensure your fit as you’ll be doing 10k steps during delivery alone, be a people person it’s an extremely social role, have a good cv Aldi gets lots of applications so make yours stand out
