Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I got the chance to get extra work on the things that I am interested about and get a deep walk through with my team on how they work, what we want to see and what we want certain models to do.
This way I got their analysis on anything I didn't know before and help not only on understanding the business better, but on optimising it as well.
Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I seriously improved my excel skills and got to work on stress testing, model updating and process automation.
I had a lot of sessions on how we hedge our positions, what are asset back securities and how they work.
We discuss with my line manager almost on a daily basis the interest rates forecasts and macroeconomic factors that affect them. I get an experienced opinion from my team on where the market is going and how we get ready for what's coming.
