Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work on a variety of legacy to bleeding edge solutions, liaising with clients, contractors and colleagues to build tailored cloud solutions. I get the opportunity to often work with data transformation, ETL pipelines, CI/CD and automation, and even recently machine learning as I shape my future career
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I think the University are a massive let down, however Capgemini have supported apprentices all the way through. The company have even switched education provider recently. Any negativity mainly comes from non-work aspects of the program

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I think my skills in computing continue to develop as I naturally enjoy solving problems but Capgemini gives me the platform to do that and develop important day to day soft skills. This helps me with communicating my ideas, building confidence and being able to bring my ideas to client discussions

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Capgemini and particularly the EET team, who are a dedicated team for apprentice support, ensure I, and my peers, feel included and values in the company. They hold regular events and meetings to bring us together and raise any concerns and consistently are approachable
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Aston University's programme is a disgrace to the intelligence, ability and capability of every student on the course. I have never met so fixed, outdated dinosaur-esque lecturers who cannot even comprehend the idea that technology is beyond 2005. A real shame.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
The degree part of the degree apprenticeship is a piece of paper that takes 5 years of mental health damage you will need therapy for after. I genuinely don't care about the Uni side anymore given the inability to take constructive feedback forwards or work with providers to improve the course
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes Capgemini offer a wide range of socials, communities and events for you to engage in. I have supported in local schools, join an onsite gym, had evenings out, events and conferences across the UK. There is so much to do it sometimes feels like you could you week with events, and if there isn't something for you you can make it happen. Recently some apprentices put together a gamers community for example!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I already did, my family member joined on my word of mouth! Capgemini is a people company and fosters that environment. It is obviously not perfect but in my experience anyone who tries other companies, contracts etc will join given the culture. The culture at Capgemini is infectious and keeps people to stay
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
Be yourself.
Your authentic self will always ensure you get seen in the best light and help you bond with people. Capgemini want to find people who want to learn and work together
