Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
So I've recently started a new role of a Platform Engineer, after being a Software Engineer for almost 3 years. I attend meetings, discuss solutions, code them and trouble-shoot. I have been able to gain responsibility in my role by being sent to architecture workshops recently, where I have been able to bring in work for my team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy it, it suits my way of working and provides me with recognised qualifications without having to take out huge loans, and also gives me a means of salary. The people I work with are fabulous too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Communication, and organisation skills which I have developed. All my technical skills are new to me in the last 3 years, and the growth of these has been exponential.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is organised now, however I have experienced a lack of organisation when the programme was changing it's provider. This interrupted the teaching and meant a few months were added to the length of my degree.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots, very supportive in all areas, great development of EET community in recent months too. Really positive at brining in new joiners.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
As much as possible, training opportunities are promoted and are encouraged by SLT consistently... which is great.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It allows me to try out other technologies I wouldn't usually use in my day-to-day responsibilities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I get involved in the volunteering aspect offered by Capgemini. I support primary school children in learning to program through the Lego League scheme. I also regularly enjoy attending EET socials.

I find it a great company to work at, there are many opportunities and different roles that are applicable to many people and their specialisms.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
