Undergraduate Engineer - Simulation & Modelling Review

Technical office based role working on models and systems predominantly in a Simulink/MATLAB environment.
Planning/attending meetings usually a few times a week.
Working both individually and collaboratively.

I was given a huge amount of trust and responsibility during my placement. I had the opportunity to lead the technical side of a deliverable project. This involved planning the project phases with my supervisor from initial ideas, through all the development stages and including writing a final report. Something which I thoroughly enjoyed but did not expect. My supervisors trusted me completely and it encouraged me to work harder.

My technical ability has massively developed due to the level of work that is expected. I am far more confident and capable using software independently.
Professional skills such as communication, teamwork and time management have also been enhanced. This is through planning meetings, structuring my day around colleagues etc.
Overall my technical and professional abilities have improved way beyond my expectations

All colleagues were eager to support whenever I needed it, regardless of how many times I'd ask for help. I've had countless support sessions with several colleagues to help with different technical challenges during the placement.

Everybody is friendly and supportive. Good company culture with an emphasis on employee wellbeing. Great work/life balance with regular work socials. Calm working environment.

Great experience which has given me a real insight into the industry. Enjoyed the entire placement. Would highly recommend!
