Role: Technician 2
We manufacture superconductive magnets for MRI systems. My daily tasks include qualified assembly operations following specific work instructions and processes. Diligence, precision and good organisation are crucial qualities in my role. Majority of time I work independently; however, team work and collaboration between all the cells and departments are necessary to accomplish our targets.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It seems to be far more enjoyable than I expected. I am impressed with how versatile this programme is: it is a brilliant opportunity to develop not only soft and hard skills, but due to the future onsite part of the apprenticeship I will be able to apply the acquired knowledge directly to business everyday operations.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes: the apprenticeship has definitely broadened my knowledge of the principles of successful management. I feel that by participating in the above-mentioned apprenticeship I gained as well the opportunity to be exposed to challenges which I would not be able to encounter in my current role. It is a well-organised programme which covers the topic of leadership from every angle.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It seems to be well planned; all the parts/modules come together nicely, giving me an amazing insight into what successful leadership consists of. The programme has a clear structure which is easy to follow; I have as well been offered experienced mentoring at every stage of the programme. It is far more meticulous than I expected.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am given full support from my employer. Every aspect which may be challenging has been thought of and covered. There are numerous people I could seek advice from; I am encouraged to do whatever I consider necessary to gain as much as possible from this programme. I have complete trust in my employer that they will provide me with any support I may require.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is as supportive and reliable as my employer; they are always there to answer any queries and point me in the right direction. My learning plans are well-structured and transparent which makes working towards my qualifications much easier.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it will play a major role in helping me achieve my future goals. I consider the knowledge gained through my learning provider vital for any future development in terms of being a successful leader. However, as far as my current role is considered, there is not much influence.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes. My company offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities and initiatives. For example, we as employees are encouraged to volunteer, take part in football games/other sports or just meet for a coffee with another (random) employee to get to know one another better and promote the team culture. My company often organises themed days, for example: women in engineering, family days, awareness days etc. Our homepage has a tab dedicated to wellbeing where upcoming events/initiatives may be checked.

Why?
I feel valued as an employee. Shop floor managers are highly trained (soft skills, coaching - it shows they have knowledge and experience in managing people). It is a pleasure to work in a truly professional environment where good work ethic and hard work are appreciated.
