Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role consists of working on machinery and equipment across the whole factory, I repair and perform PMs on equipment through the day. My team and I work closely together to maintain the factory, having meetings throughout the week on jobs and projects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my program, being able to work with a good team day to day makes it very enjoyable. I also like being in the working life early on as opposed to later and also learning whilst doing it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
During my first year I learn many valuable skills in a apprentice training school, such as welding, machining, electronics and electrical and many more. Being at the site has allowed me to utilize and also better these skills, along with learning many more skills along the way.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
From the college side there is a structure and I do receive support from the college too, they are very good with helping along the program. From an employer side I would say the program could be better structured, it's more of going about things day to day and taking things as they come.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Going into the program I did expect to receive more support from my employer. I would there isn't much support from my employer, especially speaking to other people also doing apprenticeships at other companies and hearing about their experiences, it makes me feel like my employer could be doing more for us as apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider does provide a lot of support in working towards my qualification. The tutors are helpful and provide 1 to 1 support when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The qualification does help me a bit through my role, but a lot of the stuff we have been learning has not been implemented into my daily role also. I feel like this will change with time and experience.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
As an apprentice I haven't found myself being able to get involved in many extra-curricular activities at work. I'm not sure if it's the company if it's the company in general or the role I am in. But going off apprentices at other companies, there is not much compared to other places.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Siemens Healthineers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend it because there is a limitless amount of knowledge that can be obtained from a massive company like Siemens, especially being quite a niche industry, I feel like it makes you very valuable. But I would also consider other say to consider other places too, because I do feel like the apprenticeship program as a whole here could be a lot better, and I know that at many other companies it is. But i do see Siemens working on this to be improved in the coming years and making the program a better experience for apprentices.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers?
Be yourself, Siemens Healthineers is a very diverse and open company, with loads of unique personalities and backgrounds. Have a passion to learn and be open-minded, this place has tons of experience and loads of great people to learn off, having this mindset will allow you to stand out and learn from the best.
