Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day to day role involves cleaning and prepping moulds appropriately ready for lay up. I laminate composite components for a variety of F1 teams. Some days will include demoulding components after they have been cured.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy the programme but i would like more oppurtunites in the workplace to explore other avenues in composites and get a feeler for everything.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to work to tight tolerances and how to correctly prep tools and moulds. i have developed my laminating skills in general and overall confidence in composites

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say it is well organised. We are at college one day a week and typically have 1 training (assignment) day at the workplace so we have ample time to complete coursework. The workplace is supportive and so is college.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much support as they can give. I have been allowed extra days at college to catch up on college work and if i ever dont understand something i can ask and they will help.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive as much support as they can provide. I have regular check ins with my apprenticeship coach and my tutor. I have been given a learning assessment to support my needs.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel as though the units i have been taught so far have benefited me in my day to day role at GTR. I am more confident and have a better understanding.
