I work in the Securities Lending Product team, on a day to day basis i oversee the fund onboarding process which entails entering new funds into the lending program, my role also includes investigating changes to any funds and whether or not there is an impact to Securities Lending and looking at next steps.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my program; it's been a rewarding experience on many levels. The work is engaging, and I find myself constantly learning and growing in my role. What makes it even better is the supportive environment within my team. Everyone has been incredibly kind and caring, always willing to lend a hand or offer guidance whenever needed. Their encouragement make each day enjoyable.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The new skills I've learned include risk management, as I've had the opportunity to address situations where funds engaging in securities lending have been affected by portfolio changes. I've gained experience in identifying potential risks and devising solutions to mitigate their impact. I have also been able to develop my communication skills as i work with multiple departments and teams.

The structure of my program is excellent. Right from the outset, the two-week orientation provided a solid foundation, offering comprehensive insights into the organization and its values. Additionally, the abundance of training opportunities ensures continuous learning and growth. Regular feedback sessions further contribute to the structured nature of the program, allowing for ongoing improvement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get a lot of support from my employer. They give me helpful feedback on what I need to work on, which really helps me improve.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider as I work towards my qualifications. The lectures are well thought out, and the instructors are always there to answer questions and provide guidance. This support makes it easier for me to understand the material and succeed in my studies.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The investment qualification gives us a strong foundation in the financial world. It teaches us important concepts and skills that are essential for working in finance. With this qualification, we understand how financial markets work, for example our current exam we are revising towards includes topics such as the types of risk and how to assess risk at different levels, this ties in with my role a lot as i do a lot of risk management.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many networks and events anyone in the firm can join, sports such as football, chess clubs and even quizzes!
