Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Data Analyst Apprentice at Pearson, I have been able to enhance my analytical skills and expertise in interpreting and manipulating data. The well-organized structure of the program and the substantial support I receive from my employer have been invaluable in my professional development. With one day a week off the job to study, I’ve elevated my analytical skills by working on a diverse array of projects that involve AI modelling and data visualization using Tableau. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this program.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
My apprenticeship has been an invaluable platform for refining and showcasing my skillset. Over the past 18 months, I’ve actively contributed to a diverse range of projects and explored new facets of the business that I wouldn’t have encountered otherwise. Beyond acquiring technical skills, this experience has ignited fresh motivation to propel my career forward

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
During my time on the Level 4 Data Analyst program, I was able to improve my presentation skills, lead team projects, and gain expertise in several technical areas. I streamlined workflows through automation, which resulted in saving valuable time. Additionally, I created interactive dashboards in Tableau to facilitate collaboration amongst colleagues. Lastly, I mastered SQL to ensure accurate data manipulation and the generation of reports.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The apprenticeship program lasted for 18 months in addition to the End Point Assessment (EPA). The course material was delivered through a dedicated online platform. The tutors were knowledgeable, but the class sizes were quite large and the pace was fast. However, all classes were recorded, so you could go back and review the sessions if needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer offered an extensive array of support activities and services for all apprentices. These included drop-in sessions and external events where we could connect with fellow apprentices. Additionally, I received abundant encouragement and support from colleagues across the company. The apprenticeship team was highly approachable and readily available whenever I needed guidance or faced any challenges.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I had an incredible experience with Cambridge Spark's coaching program. The coach was highly knowledgeable and always provided me with the right information to make informed decisions. They were also proactive in scheduling regular check-ins to track my progress and discuss any challenges I faced. Overall, I felt supported and encouraged throughout my time in the program.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I gained valuable insights into the significance of placing the end user at the centre of the entire data cycle. I learned to analyse their requirements, preferences, and pain points to inform my approach. This enabled me to effectively guide and present data to non-technical colleagues, which became a crucial skill in my role. I focused on ensuring clarity, simplicity, and relevance in all my communication, which helped me to perform my tasks effectively and efficiently. Transforming complex insights into accessible narratives I could convey insights, trends, and recommendations through engaging narratives.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There were lots of opportunities for networking at Pearson plc I attended a few external meetings and events with suppliers, customers and students who could become future apprentices.
